After studying at the old Hornsey School of Art, London, Paul Lloyd ran his own design and advertising business for 20 years in Manchester. Returning to painting later in life for the pure love of it, attending still life and life classes for the best part of 15 years, before deciding to seek and gain gallery representation with De Lacey's in Manchester. His paintings have evolved over the years from portraiture, to townscapes of Macclesfield where he's lived for a number of years, to cityscapes of Manchester more recently. Preferring to paint the iconic Victorian buildings and depict some of the grittiness and character of the city that he knows intimately having grown up as a child and then worked in as an adult . Working in oils, the foundations for his paintings still underpin his works today; his love of tone, light and dark and of landscape and architecture.
